The Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI is one of the most iconic touring cars of all time, a dominant force in the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft) during the early 1990s. Developed by Alfa Corse, it debuted in 1993 to challenge German giants like Mercedes and BMW on their home turf.
Under the hood was a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter V6 engine producing over 400 hp, derived from Formula 1 technology, revving beyond 12,000 rpm. With permanent all-wheel drive, a heavily modified chassis, and aggressive aerodynamics, the 155 was a true race car disguised as a sedan.
In 1993, with Italian driver Nicola Larini behind the wheel, the Alfa 155 dominated the DTM, winning 11 out of 20 races and securing both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships—an epic achievement against more experienced German teams.
In the following years, the 155 V6 TI remained competitive, despite facing increasingly advanced rivals. It lives on in collective memory as a symbol of Italian engineering triumphing in the heart of the German motorsport world.
Today, the 155 DTM is an absolute icon, beloved for its screaming engine, extreme technology, and the unforgettable excitement it brought to the track.
