The Ferrari 330 P3 is one of the most fascinating prototypes built by Ferrari in the 1960s, created to compete at the highest level in the World Sportscar Championship. Introduced in 1966, it represented a significant evolution of the earlier 330 P2, especially in terms of technology and performance.
From a technical standpoint, the 330 P3 featured a lightweight tubular chassis with aluminum bodywork and fiberglass panels, a solution that helped reduce weight while improving structural rigidity. Its engine was a 4.0-liter (3967 cc) V12 capable of producing around 420 horsepower at 8000 rpm, powered by a Lucas fuel injection system—an important innovation for Ferrari at the time.
Performance was impressive: the car could reach approximately 310 km/h, making it highly competitive. However, in demanding races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, it faced strong competition from Ford Motor Company and suffered from some reliability issues. Produced in only a few examples, the Ferrari 330 P3 remains a symbol of Ferrari’s engineering and passion, as well as an icon of the golden age of endurance racing.
