The Ferrari 335 S, introduced in 1957, is one of Maranello’s most famous race cars, designed to compete in prestigious endurance races such as the Mille Miglia and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Derived from the Ferrari 410 Sport, the 335 S was equipped with a 4.0-liter V12 engine designed by Aurelio Lampredi, producing about 400 horsepower. This powerful engine, combined with a lightweight chassis and advanced suspension system, provided exceptional on-track performance.
The Ferrari 335 S achieved its greatest success in 1957 when it won the Mille Miglia with legendary drivers Mike Hawthorn and Luigi Musso behind the wheel. This victory cemented its reputation as a competitive racing car. Despite its triumph at the Mille Miglia, the 335 S was not as dominant in other events, such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where it did not secure a podium finish.
Production of the 335 S was limited, and the car quickly became a sought-after collector’s item. Although Ferrari developed new models that eventually replaced it, the 335 S remains a milestone in Ferrari’s history. Despite its relatively short racing career, the Ferrari 335 S is still one of the brand’s most iconic vehicles, embodying Ferrari’s tradition of power, elegance, and innovation in motorsport.
