For the EVO37 project, Kimera brought in several engineers who had worked on the original model, including Claudio Lombardi, Lancia’s head engine engineer in the 1980s, who helped develop the EVO37’s engine.
The design of the new car faithfully reflects the lines of the 037, including the distinctive “short tail” and wide wheel arches, but introduces modern details and materials. The result is a car that visually recalls the 037, yet has a refined and contemporary aesthetic.
Technically, the Kimera EVO37 is powered by a 2.1-liter engine, similar to the original but significantly upgraded. Using both a turbocharger and a supercharger, the EVO37 achieves around 500 horsepower, ensuring impressive performance. The combination of these two forms of forced induction provides a quick response and consistent power, making for smooth yet powerful driving at all speeds.
The car’s structure consists of a tubular steel frame, with a body made from composite materials and carbon fiber, ensuring lightness and rigidity. The suspension system has also been completely redesigned to enhance grip and responsiveness, with modern components and advanced adjustments that enable precise and sporty handling.
Production of the Kimera EVO37 is extremely limited, with each unit handmade with meticulous attention to detail, making each car unique and reserved for a select few collectors. This car is not only a tribute to the historic Lancia 037, but a true “restomod” that combines vintage charm with high-level performance and modern technologies.
The Kimera EVO37 thus becomes a tribute that blends past and present: a car that not only celebrates an icon of rally history but also offers thrilling, contemporary driving suited to modern standards, destined to become a cult object among enthusiasts and collectors.
